This online course was piloted last September. It runs over four weeks, with a few hours of learning per week. learn about the weather basics then move onto more detailed areas like synoptic charts, air masses, fronts, wind and clouds.

In the last week, learn about the weather’s effect on what we do, by looking at its impact on leisure activities like gardening and photography.

With the help of the Royal Horticultural Society you’ll pick up advice to help in your garden. Learn how to make the most of the weather, how to garden in an environmentally friendly way and how to adapt your garden to the changing climate.

The Royal Photographic Society give advice on how the weather might impact your photography.

If you love the great outdoors you’ll find out how to get the most out of the weather forecast. And you’ll know how to keep safe in hazardous conditions when you learn about the weather.

The live course began at the start of August 2018, but you can start at any time. It’s free and you don’t need any prior knowledge.
