Julie's Big Bicycle Challenge

Julie's Big Bicycle Challenge

Deciding on a new Career after 30 years in the Travel and Tourism industry and moving into the Charity Sector is a big enough step. For one Blackpool Sandgrown’un that wasn’t enough, but Julie’s big bicycle challenge certainly is!

Just four short months after joining the team at Blackpool Carers Centre, Blackpool-born Julie Holland has been amazed by the incredible work done by the team at Beaverbrooks House. So she’s signed up, along with other incredible fundraisers, to take on an iconic cycle challenge.

Next September 2019, the group of intrepid cyclists will attempt to ride from Blackpool Tower to the Eiffel Tower in Paris in just 5 days to raise funds and awareness about the growing numbers of unpaid carers in Blackpool.

The first 10 people who stepped up and signed up for the challenge are now encouraging other cyclists from across the region to join them and it’s hoped a group of 30-50 will eventually make the journey across the channel next year. The event is being organised in partnership with Chapeau Events, who regularly organise rides like this for different charities.

Head of Fundraising and Business Development at Blackpool Carers Centre, Terry Hodkinson would be delighted to hear from anyone thinking about taking on the challenge. “If you’re a keen cyclist looking for a new challenge or just need an excuse to get back on your bike and help out the local community then please get in touch, we’d love to have you aboard!”
