OK, you’ve already noticed, we love the Fylde Coast! What you might not know is that here at The Rabbit Patch we don’t just publish our own interesting information. We also get things about the Fylde Coast in the news as much as we can too.
Over the years we’ve achieved lots of local, regional and national coverage. There are far more incidents than we’ve documented here – we lose track of them!

Celebrating Tram Sunday
Visit Fylde Coast has provided an online portal for Fleetwood Festival of Transport (FFOT) for some years. The team is once again developing their own stand-alone website, so it’s a fitting time to celebrate our long-standing relationship.
And what better way to do it than with a huge feature article in the prestigious Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs Magazine. We were happy to write the copy and submit it, along with our own photos, on behalf of the FFOT board of directors. It’s a marker for a big return for the popular event in 2022, after two missed years.
We’re on the Back of a Bus!
May 2021
Local service operator Coastliner Buses contacted us way back at the start of the year. They wanted to put a ‘shop local’ message on the back of their local Cleveleys service buses, directing people to our Visit Cleveleys website.
We agreed that was a good idea, so in return for the favour, provided photos and artwork.
Look out for the two buses in the Cleveleys area with this great big graphic on the back!

Now ‘InYourArea’
May 2021
We weren’t just juggling Star Wars updates in May 2021 – there’s always a LOT going off behind the scenes here at Visit Fylde Coast!

Star Wars Takes Over in Cleveleys!
May 2021
We were first to break the incredible news that Star Wars was heading to Cleveleys for location filming at the beginning of May 2021. What an amazing week that turned out to be! The place was packed with equipment, Shoretroopers and stars. Including Diego Luna who plays Cassian Andor in the Disney+ tv series spin-off.

We also enjoyed a week of making video updates for you for our Visit Fylde Coast YouTube channel. As usual, it wasn’t long before the rest of the local and regional media followed our lead. Just a few days later we were interviewed on drive-time shows for BBC Radio Lancashire, then BBC’s 5 Live. ITV and Newsround were a couple of the other news outlets to get in touch with us. One of our readers heard Chris Evans mention it on Virgin Radio!
Trainline Website
Europe, June 2020
Trainline is Europeâs largest independent train and coach travel website and app. After contacting us about their article on ‘Trains to Fairhaven Lake’ we were pleased to provide them with information and a photo for their web page.

Teaching Geography Magazine
National, Summer 2020
Teaching Geography is the magazine from the Geographical Association. They’re the subject association for all teachers of geography.
Their Summer 2020 journal carries an interesting piece about the geography and management of the coastal defence here on the Fylde Coast.
We were pleased to support the authors of the article with reference links, and a lovely photo of Mary’s Shell for the cover.

Daily Mail
National, Saturday 30 May 2020
The Daily Mail ran a feature on the best walks. The journalist got in touch with us, asking if there was anything unique about Cleveleys – anything worth a detour.
We’re always pleased to provide information to journalists. So we told her about the Mythic Coast and the Abana shipwreck and see Cleveleys feature in the paper. It’s only a small mention in a bigger feature – but it’s a national weekend paper with a huge circulation!

BBC News at 6pm
National, 21 May 2020
In May 2020 the UK is gripped by the coronavirus pandemic. Lockdown restrictions have been eased slightly and we wait to see the effect.
BBC News get in touch with us to find out whether we think that Cleveleys will suffer badly with the lasting impact of the crisis. They’re looking for a local resident who is shielding and businesses who are suffering.
Here’s the piece that went to air on Thursday 21 May. Sorry about the quality/redness of it. But it’s filmed the old tech way, from the television!
Visit Cleveleys helped the producer out as their ‘fixer’, with contacts and local knowledge.
The report went out on the BBC News at 6, and at 10pm, accompanied by an online piece on the BBC News website.

That’s TV Lancashire – 10 Years!
In 2020 Visit Fylde Coast celebrate our tenth anniversary. On 31 January 2010 we launched our first site, Visit Cleveleys.
We had lots of exciting things planned. After a new website release we did a media campaign, with coverage on local radio and newspapers. On 2 March 2020 we filmed with That’s TV Lancashire. Watch it here –
Dog Friendly Fylde Coast, Coast Magazine
National, September 2019
Coast Magazine produced a feature about dog friendly resorts, seaside towns and things to do. After approaching us to supply content, we’re delighted to see the Blackpool Tramway coming in at number 7.

Cleveleys Sea Foam goes Global
International, February 2019
In early 2019 a documentary production company based in Australia got in touch. They were making an international TV series called Impossible Planet and wanted to include our footage of sea foam at Cleveleys. Impossible Planet is a 4k 12 x 1hr factual series on our incredible planet and the natural phenomena it can generate.

Cleveleys Car Show, Coast Magazine
National, June 2018
This time it’s the turn of Cleveleys Car Show to appear in the ‘Ten Things to Do’ feature in Coast Magazine. It’s quite a spectacular sight, all of those cars right on the edge of the prom!

Eat out in Blackpool, Great Little Breaks Website
National, March 2018
Great Little Breaks website approached us in March 2018, looking for places to eat in Blackpool. They were after the hidden gems, authentic tastes and places where the locals go. So we were happy to oblige!

Board a Festive Heritage Tram, Coast Magazine
National, December 2017
Our contact at Coast Magazine was asking in late summer for interesting things which we might know about, for inclusion in the Christmas issue. How much more unusual does it get, than meeting Santa onboard a Heritage Blackpool Tram?

Our Five Minutes of Fame with Coast Magazine
National, June 2016

I’m not a big fan of publicity for myself, that’s not why I spend such a lot of time publishing Visit Fylde Coast. Sometimes though it’s necessary, as part of the bigger picture.
This article, where I appeared with resident writer Chrissie Blogger, as Coast Characters for June 2016 was 12 months in the planning! The purpose of it was to promote Cleveleys and the Fylde Coast, and of course the Visit Fylde Coast websites.
Visit Fleetwood, Lancashire Magazine
Regional, June 2016
Lancashire Magazine were looking for photos to accompany their article about Fleetwood, so we were only too pleased to help. All the high resolution photos in the five page feature were supplied free of charge by Visit Fylde Coast.
Postcard from Cleveleys, Northern Life Magazine
Regional, articles in each bi-monthly edition between 2013-16
For a number of years we wrote and provided a feature article for the excellent Northern Life magazine, titled ‘Postcard from Cleveleys’. A double page spread, celebrating the place and it’s community.
Accompanying high resolution photographs captured scenes from the beach and town centre throughout the year.

Mythic Coast, In the News with Coast Magazine
National, July 2015
Just a little piece, but one about the artworks on Cleveleys seafront and the Mythic Coast Trail. And our photo of the Ogre on the beach. Of course.

Mary’s Shell, Coast Magazine
National, April 2015
It’s probably the most photographed thing in Cleveleys. Mary’s Shell gets submerged by the sea twice every day. It’s photographed every which way you can imagine and in April 2015 ours featured in Coast Magazine. It’s part of the story of the Sea Swallow.
